Privacy policy
Last updated September 25, 2026
This policy explains how MyMeals handles personal data when you use the MyMeals iPhone app, this website and the launch list. MyMeals exists to log and explain what you eat, and meal photos and nutrition records can say something about your health. We treat all of it as sensitive.
In short: we use your data to run MyMeals for you. We never sell it and never use it for advertising. You can delete any meal or photo, or your whole account, in the app at any time, and deletion is permanent and immediate.
Who is responsible
MyMeals is provided by Kaine Ventures, LLC (“we”). We are the controller of your personal data, including under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where it applies. Write to us at support@kaineventures.com about anything in this policy.
What we collect
Your account. Your name and email address, and the identifiers created when you sign in with Apple, Google or email. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider.
What you log. The meal photos you take or import, the descriptions you type or dictate, and the meals, foods, portions and times you save. When you dictate a meal, the recording is sent to a speech-to-text service to produce the text.
What MyMeals derives and learns. The analysis of each meal (the foods it recognized, estimated portions and nutrients, and health characteristics), small crops of the individual foods in your photos, and what it learns from your corrections, receipts and registered tableware: your usual foods, brands, portions and meal times. This is what makes MyMeals personal to you, and it is used for your account only.
Product labels and receipts you scan. The product and nutrition information read from them.
Apple Health data, if you allow it. Dietary data you choose to import. If you turn on writing to Apple Health, MyMeals writes your nutrients there. Apple Health access is controlled by you in iOS and can be withdrawn at any time.
Purchases. Whether you have a Pro subscription and its status. Payments are made through Apple; we never see your card details.
Diagnostics. Technical information needed to keep the service working and secure, such as app version, device model, error reports and request logs. Where crash reporting and product analytics are enabled in the app, they collect events about app use and errors, never your photos or meal content.
Support and the launch list. Your email address and anything you write to us.
This website. The site sets no cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
Health data and why we may process it
Photos of your meals and the nutrition records made from them can reveal information about your health, a special category of personal data under the GDPR. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you create an account and start logging, and which you can withdraw at any time by deleting the data or your account. Where we process data to provide the service you signed up for, the legal basis is the contract with you; for security, fraud prevention and keeping the service working, it is our legitimate interest in running a safe service; for records we must keep by law, such as payment records, it is a legal obligation.
How we use it
- To analyze your meals and show you the result for review.
- To learn your foods, brands, portions and routines, so that your next meals are recognized better.
- To show your days, trends, health characteristics and weekly report, and to let the coach answer questions about your own meals.
- To sync your data between your devices and with Apple Health when you choose.
- To manage your subscription, answer support requests and send essential service messages.
- To keep the service secure and reliable, and to understand, in aggregate, how features are used so we can improve them.
Meal analysis is automated: an AI model reads the photo or description and drafts the meal. Every draft is shown to you to confirm or correct, and no decision with legal or similarly significant effects is made about you automatically.
Who processes your data
We share personal data only with service providers that process it for us under contract, only as far as each needs to, and never for their own purposes such as advertising.

|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and account management | United States |

We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of people using MyMeals, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.
Where your data is processed
MyMeals is operated from the United States, so if you use it from the European Union, the UK or Switzerland, your data is processed in the United States by us and by the providers above; meal photos are stored in the EU. Where a provider is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions), transfers to it rely on that framework; otherwise they rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK addendum, with additional safeguards where needed. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Your account, meals, photos and learned foods: for as long as you have an account, or until you delete them. Deleting a meal, a photo or your account removes the data from our databases and storage straight away; there is no trash or restore period.
- Technical records of how a meal was analyzed (used to find and fix errors): 30 days.
- Anonymous service metrics (timings and counts that contain no user identifier and no content): up to 400 days.
- Payment records: as long as accounting law requires. They contain the transaction and its outcome, not your meals.
- A record that an account was deleted: kept, without content, so we can show the deletion happened.
- Launch list email addresses: until you ask us to remove yours, or until we no longer need the list.
Copies held by others, such as Apple’s purchase records, are kept under their own policies.
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, or receive it in a portable format, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Most of this you can do in the app directly; for anything else, write to support@kaineventures.com. We answer within one month.
If you are in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority where you live or work.
Residents of some US states have additional rights over consumer health data; see Consumer health data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service and is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affected your data, we would tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Age
MyMeals is meant for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from younger children; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
The launch list
When you join the launch list on this website, we store your email address and where on the site you signed up. We use it to send you one email when MyMeals is available on the App Store. It is stored with our other account data and shared with no one else. Ask us at any time to remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
